Culture

We believe in maintaining a ever-evolving, humble and intellectually-curious company. Throughout the course of development of our product we've remained lean, nimble and open to new ideas (and some old ones) — which are the keys, in our opinion, to a healthy product and culture. Our focus today is to grow culture one person at a time.

At Namesake, we have a set of beliefs that govern most of our decisions. We are building a culture where people come to work happy, motivated and willing to challenge the status quo. One of our most important beliefs is that people should grow personally at work as well as professionally. We accomplish this by creating a open work environment that puts on emphasis on ongoing learning and communication. There are no magic elixirs at Namesake — just healthy doses of imagination, handwork and disciplined optimism.

Here are some of our beliefs:

  • Product simplicity.
  • Long-term perspective is essential.
  • Change and frugality are constants.
  • Technical excellence in not simply good engineering; it's about understanding how solutions can best serve customer's needs.
  • Business is life. We can have fun doing business too.

We also like: Bob Marley, throwing cans off of the roof of the Founders Room, trance music, Airwolf, ribs, late-night code sessions, antipathy to sunlight, guacamole, Ye Coach and Horses, underdogs, canyon walks, Star Trek, large pots of coffee, small animals, xiao long boa (小籠包) and only a few other things.
