Did the Ivy League prepare you for the NFL? My guess is that the intensity much be lower than other D1.
-
-
And please mention the Ivy, I don't know where you graduated from.
-
-
-
-
-
I think @Chas Gessner thought we were going to be in another conversation. One second, attempting to locate this very fast and tall man digitally.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
ive been poking around on namesake the last few days and like what im seeing!
-
@Chas Gessner Did you see the 1st question above? Do you think playing at say FSU or Miami would have better prepared you for the NFL?
-
-
-
-
-
-
i think if i had played at a bigger school i probably wouldnt have developed as fast as i did being able to play right away at brown and get the chance to catch so many balls
-
-
-
i wouldve had more exposure at a bigger school which couldve led to higher draft status
-
-
which could have definitely impacted my career
-
Apparently no one liked my lockout question, but I want to hear about it. Are the owners as greedy as they seem?
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
i would love to be abe to say something bad about a guy who seems like he has it all hahah! but i cant
-
-
great guy...great leader...great friend...true competitor
-
-
you can tangibly see how much more work and heart he puts into it....thats what makes a great leader...someone you always feel like you need to catch up with or you will be left behind
-
-
-
it was a shock but you try to pretend like its no big deal haha
-
-
@Chas Gessner I'd assume everyone in the NFL has to practice every waking hour to be competitive. How does one go even farther? Or do the not?
-
-
-
the testing is wayyyy to strict for anyone to be on roids these days
-
-
im sure there are tons of guys that do hgh though
-
its random all year long....no gaps....no way to beat it
-
-
-
@Chas Gessner Is suspicion of HGH frowned upon/pressured amongst teammates, or is it kind of kept silent, like no one talks about it?
-
yes a couple teams did try to move me to tight end or suggest it....i either didnt sign with them or said i wanted to play WR....
-
@Chas Gessner I should have asked about the Super Bowl damn it... Getting a ring must have been magical.
-
i have never heard anyone talk about hgh in 8 years of bouncing around the nfl
-
@Chas Gessner << is the most physical WR I've ever seen. Nasty what we used to do to poor DBs from Yale.
-
-
-
@Chas Gessner Right. What about locker room divas? I get so mad when players don't want to work out with the team.
-
i think some guys in the locker room go about their own business and some guys take it personally....everything is fine unless a guy opens his mouth and talks like hes bigger than the team
-
but most of that is created by the media and not a real issue in the locker room
-
-
-
The media issue. But then again, I'm a Skins fan, so no one has the right to be a diva. That's also why I get so mad.
-
-
-
-
takes me a lot longer to get warmed up these days lets just say that B! hahaha
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
i wasnt the mvp....my qb rohan davey was....but we won the "world bowl" over there and i was first team all europe wr
-
-
@Chas Gessner what has disappointed you most about the NFL? Everyone always talks about how great a job it is.
-
-
-
-
the politics are disappointing......and the fact that the guys that are in the positions to make a lot of important decisions do so based on a lot of factors that are questionable
-
-
there are tons of scouts and execs and player personnel directors that have never played fball
-
welcome to Namesake. I hear you played in the NFL and won a superbowl ring thats awesome. I myself am a high school student from NY who wants to be a sports journalist when i get older
-
i need 3 more games on an nfl roster to get my pension
-
@Chas Gessner Any way to change it as a player? Or is it a collective action issue where it is better to keep quiet?
-
-
-
-
-
@Chas Gessner Now that I know you're a Skins fan, I just want to have a whole separate convo around them :)
-
theres no way to change the system as a player other than what the players are trying to do now.....as far as the infrastructure....it will just keep getting worse....until its all kids who grew up playing playstation madden and think that size and speed are the only important factors
-
You are playing Arena ball, right? Then NFL camp? If there is one?
-
Last question from me before I just listen in... Do you ever run in to Dhani Jones? I know him from high school.
-
yes im paying for the Spokane Shock right now to stay in shape during the lockout....
-
@Chas Gessner Has pro sports jaded you? I don't remember you being as cynical about the NFL many years ago?
-
i have never met dhani but have buddies that are friends with him and say hes a great and weird guy! haha
-
-
yeah i think any business jades? can i say jades? haha probably not........any time you dont work for yourself you run into politics and bs.........
-
-
-
i was talking to a few before the lockout....yeah that killed it though
-
-
-
-
-
-
I did actually have a life before the Internet.
-
-
-
you guys just reminded me, so my principal of my high school has a son who actually played football for the Browns
-
-
-
-
-
are we talking about brown u or the cleveland browns? haha
-
-
-
-
yeah i wonder about lax......i got drafted by the baltimore bayhawks with like the 4th pick 2 years ago haha
-
-
-
-
yeah i put my name in the player pool for shits and giggles
-
@Chas Gessner Football was a much better choice, major league lacrosse is equivalent to playing football in japan, popularity wise
-
-
Chas - hey buddy, glad to see you on here. You should talk a little about the difference between the NFL & the Arena league...I'll never forget the time we went and watched you up in Grand Rapids...
-
@Brian Norgard so do you know a guy by the name of David Healy who played for Brown U, he could be after your time lol
-
thought about it but i was talking to the LA team who was gonna draft me with the 6th pick and baltimore swiped me....so it died there...didnt wanna go to balty
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
well the differences that arent obvious are the ones i'll talk about....whats great for me about arena is that it negates my disadvantages in speed bc nobody has enough room to REALLY get going....and it amplifies my advantages bc i can use my size and strength nuch more effectively
-
-
-
@Chas Gessner are there any patriots players that you still keep in touch with, that i can get in contact with and possibly interview for my websites?
-
-
i watched wayne chrebet and ray lewis go after it once when i was with the jets
-
-
-
wayne snuck up on him during a play and wrapped around and cracked him in the mouth....and ray lewis grabbed him and did what i can only describe as a "finishing move" on him hahahaha
-
-
-
-
for me the most intense thing was just trying to make the team haha
-
-
-
-
-
cant describe how it feels to get cut man......
-
-
@Chas Gessner how do contracts work in the NFL. You always hear about teams in the NBA/MLB stuck with huge guaranteed contracts, but you never hear about "bad contracts" in the NFL.
-
bottom drops out.....you put soooo much time and blood sweat and tears into something ya know
-
-
-
-
Not a one... for the most brutal sport of them all
-
players try to get the most "guaranteed money" they can get for just that reason
-
-
-
-
-
so intensely exciting and thrilling...hard to describe
-
-
-
-
belichek is an asshole....but hes a genius and he's got football figured out
-
@Chas Gessner how different is team culture around the league? how young players are welcomed (or hazed), rules/policies, etc...or is it more of a "league culture"?
-
he stays ahead of the curve.....teaches situational fball so everyone is always prepared in any situation
-
-
-
-
-
-
in NE all the vets really ran that team and made you feel like if you didnt tote the company line then you were disrespecting them personally
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
@Chas Gessner now who did you want to guard you the least: Law, Harrison, or Samuel.. that patriots Defense was loaded with studs
-
-
-
@Chas Gessner We have the thought leaders and most prolific entrepreneurs in the world here. We can help you.
-
-
Asante and i went against each other a lot bc we were rookies together.....he was the best db they had and i told everyone that from day one....even if i coud shake him loose for a second he was right back in my pocket
-
-
-
Why do so many NFL players rock mullets?
-
YES Ernie Adams is a huggggggge part of the Belichek machine
-
-
-
-
didnt matter to me hahaha....their money looked the same! hahaha just kidding....i just wanted to play for any team that would take me
-
-
-
-
and my mullet question. this is important.
-
-
@Chas Gessner Can we have you on a again? I want to do a real-time conversation w/ 3-4 players about the lockout soon.
-
i was friends with more guys in NE....but made some lifelong friends in new york....brooks bollinger and eric barton and wayne chrebet
-
-
@Chas Gessner I am friends with a bunch of USC and UCLA guys these days so it will be really interesting.
-
-
-
-
i would love to be on again.....im a budding entrepreneur so i would love to be on the other side hearing about business and the likes too
-
@Chas Gessner You've come to the right place. Ask the community. The leaders of the business world are on Namesake.
-
wayne is doing well now.....he was in tough shape for a while from all the concussions
-
@Chas Gessner did you know that Barton was adopted, and was actually brothers with Aaron Curry of the Seattle Seahawks
-
-
-
-
Barton is one of the funniest dudes ive ever met...he went to Maryland and is from the same area as me so we had a lot of mutual friends......i lived with him for a year in NY
-
thanks for having me man! i appreciate the love!!!!
-
-
@Chas Gessner very cool, thanks for stopping by on Namesake man, would like to talk football another time
-
yes this was thoroughly enjoyable. @Chadgessner, you me and @Andrew Skotzko should bitch about the skins sometime.
-
-
hahaha hopefully i can be a part of their turnaround...thats one of the teams ive been talking to
-
-
-
* provided there is someone willing to throw balls for us.
-
-
-
